In 1963, having spent much of the past two decades raising a family in America, Ben Sherman returned to England with the idea of creating a shirt. Using the finest cottons available, adding a button on the back of the collar and the now infamous box-pleat and hang-loop on the back, an icon was born.
The five decades since have seen Ben Sherman shirts adorn the backs of almost every music led style culture from the Mods of the ‘60s, via Ska, Two-Tone and Brit Pop to the Modernists of today. High quality fabrics, a refined colour palette and tailored cuts have fast cemented Ben Sherman shirts as a wardrobe essential for any style-conscious male.
His passion for original thinking and rejecting the normal and mundane has left a legacy that can still be witnessed today. Ben Sherman not only created clothing history with his Ben Sherman shirt, but he created a way of thinking that has helped create a global menswear brand.
